American comic-book writer: Stanley Martin Lieber

Born December 28, 1922 in New York City Stanley Martin Lieber enter the comic book industry age 17. When Joe Simon and Jack Kirby left Timely Comic for National –DC in 1942, Lieber took over their editorial duties.


Former President and Chairman of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee co-created and wrote the original stories for such legendary super-heroes as Spider-Man, Thor, the Hulk, Iron Man, and the X-Men.

During Lee's reign, Marvel published the first KISS comic books, including appearances in Howard the Duck and issues 1 and 5 of Marvel Comics Super Special. Lee still works with Marvel and appears in cameos for many of their live action films.

Stan Lee's first published work was the two-page text story “Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge” for Captain America #3 in May 1941.

In 1972 Lee was promoted to publisher and ultimately became chairman emeritus of Marvel Enterprises Inc, an executive producer of the motion picture productions.
