Queen Victoria – The monarch of United Kingdom

Princess Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, May 24, 1819. She was named Alexandrina Victoria, after the reigning Emperor of Russia and her mother.

Her father the Duke of Kent, died soon after her birth, leaving the future Queen to be educated under the sole guidance of her mother the Duchess of Kent.

Queen Victoria, assumed throne as age 18, became the longest reigning British monarch and Empress of India. She succeed her uncle William IV as Victoria I.

Victoria was proclaimed June 21, 1837 and crowned at Westminster, June 28m 1838. At that time Britain was the most powerful country in the world commander of the seas, and the center of finance and industry.

On Feb. 10, 1840 Queen Victoria was married Albert, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and bore none children.

During her reign Great Britain became the most powerful nation in the world. She died on Tuesday 22 January 1901 at half past six in the evening, at the age of 81.
